Shadows danced in the dimly lit corridor as a few footsteps echoed off the stone walls. A small figure walked through the seemingly endless hallway to her next class, Wind Magic. A soft sigh echoed through the hall. Nichole usually took the 'shortcut' to class, which ment less traffic, but more walking. She strolled carelessly, not caring if she would be late for class or not. She clutched a couple of books in one arm and her bag on the other.
Sometimes she would meet new people here, sometimes she would be completly alone, which was okay with her. She twirled a strand of dirty blonde hair with her finger as she chewed boredly on bubblegum, blowing large bubbles every now and then. This would be a boring walk to class.

Jayson was late for his favorite class...and his home element...Wind Magic. Instead of squeezing through the crowd of students, he chose to take a shortcut...which had almost no people...but a longer hallway. Jayson didn't mind this, though. Expecting to be the only one at the corridor, he made loud noises as he jogged through the corridor, not aware if another person was there. But, he almost yelled with fright as he saw a girl, twirling a strand of her hair and blowing bubbles at the same time with a wad of bubblegum.

Nichole froze in her spot, hearing approaching footsteps. Suddenly the face of a boy appeared. He was maybe close to her age, and cute at that. "Oh God! You scared the crap outta me." she said with a laugh. "I thought I was the only one here." she added, thinking maybe she thought that the approaching person was a ghost.

"You think? I scared the crap out of you? You scared...scared...the..." Jayson used a rude profanity word, hushed in a whisper, and continued. "...of me...well..." Jayson continued. "Who are you?"

Nichole giggled as she resumed chewing on her gum. "/You/ don't /know/ my name? Why /everyone/ knows me." she joked as she introduced herself. "The name's Nichole, Nichole Daniels." she said, her hand outstretched for him to shake. "And you?" she asked.

"Jayson Roase," he answered and firmly gripped her hand and shook it, before letting go. His hands flopped to his sides, although he smiled when she had the tone of sarcasm in her first saying.

"Ouch! Try not to break my hand next time." Nichole said jokingly as she continued to stroll to class. "So where ya heading to?" she asked him over her shoulder, seeing if he'd follow her.
The lights flickered oddly, but she shrugged it off. 'Odd...' she thought as she was walking.

"I'm going to Wind Magic, but, and class starts in four minutes. If we do a bit of speed walk, we can still talk while walking there." Jayson answered, and the lights flickered, but then returned back to normal. Looking up, he noticed that Headmistress Ellen Kirby had set up a few things - Halloween Decorations were dangling. Unlit pumpkins were hanging, and Jayson knew that the pumpkins were going to be lit on Halloween day...after all he was a Lead Student, and he knew things around here.

"Really? Same here..." she said, speeding up her walking. "When did these get here?" Nichole said, pointing the perfectly carved pumpkins. They looked big and took up quite a bit of space in the hall.

"Haha," Jayson answered. The pumpkins over him, with their orangy skin, seemed to glow already. It was only October 22nd...

"Is there going to be some Halloween dance or something?" she asked, thinking of great dances. "Ohh!" Nichole squealed. "How about a Masked Halloween Ball?" she told him, suddenly excited about the idea.
